MTLookup - Movable Type Lookup

Welcome to the MTLookup - the Movable Type Lookup. This website's mission is to make technical articles and tutorials related to the Movable Type publishing platform available by simple search.

The Problem

If you are working with Movable Type, you have probably seen this before: you want to find a tutorial about a subject or some sample code, but you have problems locating it. Currently there are two choices for finding the needed information.

  • You open one of the well-known Movable Type resource websites. There you can use the local search function. If you are lucky, you will find what you want. If not, you move on to the next website.
  • Not knowing where to find the information, you can also use one of the big search engines. If they spidered the tutorial site, you will find it - maybe on page 1, maybe on page 5. However, it is not that easy. The information given in the result list, does not always describe the tutorial that good. And if they don't like the website, or if the author did bad search engine optimization, they won't have it in their index at all.

A Solution

My MTLookup website will give you the information that you are looking for. It will know about Movable Type resource websites, spider their content, and give you result lists that are really usefull.

Currently, you will start your search on my website. In the future, partners will be able to put search buttons on their websites, directing their search request to MTLookup.

There will be no rivalty among the websites. The ranking - which entry is shown first - will be done by a neutral database algorithm. After all, they are all good, and always worth looking at.

Where are we right now?

In the beginning, only three websites Movable Type Weblog, Learning Movable Type, Movalog had been spidered. Today more than 20 websites are indexed. If you enter a search phrase, you will be shown a list of entries originating from one of those websites. Clicking on an entry, will lead you to that article.

If you should have any problem, or have some suggestion, or just want to comment, please tell me by email. You will find my email address on Contact.

Much work has already been done to make this website available. Many more ideas exist - currently only on paper. However, they will be made reality in the very near future. If you are interested, you can read about some Plans.
