Byrne Reese has released MediaManager beta4... an updated, overhauled, "new and improved" MT32-friendly replacement for BookQueueToo, as well as MTAmazon32v1.0 (repackaged and updated MTAmazon). Very cool! Check out the screenshots for a walk-through and you'll be impressed, too.

Installation (on MT32b2) was not too difficult. First, I edited mt-config.cgi to specify my mt-static path (even though I do have it in the default location). Then I uploaded MTAmazon32.pl and MediaManager into my plugins directory (making sure to CHMOD 755 mmanager.cgi). My advice for now? Don't worry about it. RSS today is transported via HTTP. Sure, you could use other protocols - but almost no one does. This same argument came up some time ago about SOAP web services...a lot of work went into making sure everything was portable enough to deliver SOAP messages through any arbitrary transport. But in real life? Almost no one is doing it.

Enabling TypeKey on your site requires a special token which must be added to your Movable Type weblog configuration.

Obtain Your TypeKey Token

Registering for TypeKey creates your TypeKey Profile and generates the required token.

UPDATE: I've released v1.01 due to bugs faced with the paths to the plugin being incorrect on pre-3.16 systems. Download MT-RebuildBlogs_1.01.zip and follow the installation instructions.

I often need to rebuild many blogs on my system because I make system wide changes (for example renaming the comment script) and the way MT currently works, I need to go around, blog-to-blog hitting rebuild.

The previous script did work but it was too much of a security risk, anyone could hit the script multiple times bringing the server crashing down. As a result, I whipped up a quick plugin so that I could quickly rebuild multiple blogs (since it is a proper plugin, it uses MT's authentication so...

Movable Type 3.2 is huge in Japan

Our Japanese Six Apart team has released Movable Type 3.2 Beta. Featuring all the improvements and new capabilities in Movable Type 3.2, this version is completely localized in Japanese and supports all of the plugin functionality and templating options of the U.S. version that was released a few weeks ago.
