If the result list is too large, please consider these hints
- Reduce the number of websites.
- Add more keywords.
- Use quotes for building terms from keywords. For example, the phrase banner image searches for all articles containing both words. However, "banner image" searches for the exact two-word phrase.

The Movable Type team has been hard at work and we have some very exciting things coming in the 2005 release schedule. To kick things off we are proud to introduce Movable Type 3.16.
Movable Type 3.16 sports significant improvements to application security and over one hundred other fixes which really make it a highly recommended upgrade for all users.
Movable Type 3.16 is a simple drop-in replacement for any user who is running version 3.1 or higher. As long as you are running one of these more recent versions, there is no need to run an upgrade script or do anything other than upload the files in the upgrade distribution. Of course, if you're running a version older...

Anyone who has created drop-down menus will be familiar with the large quantities of scripting such menus typically require. But, using structured HTML and simple CSS, it is possible to create visually appealing drop-downs that are easy to edit and update, and that work across a multitude of browsers, including Internet Explorer. Better still, for code-wary designers, no JavaScript is required! (Actually, a tiny bit of JavaScript is needed, but it's not what you think.)
Here's a sneak preview of the menu in action.
Creating the menu
The first and most important part of creating our menu is the menu structure itself. The best way to do this is to build an unordered...

T'was the week before Christmas, and Mac users received an early present: upgraded versions of Opera Software's Opera browser and Microsoft's Internet Explorer. We test drove and reviewed both, then asked browser makers Håkon Lie and Tantek Çelik to respond to our comments.
Opera: the mini–review
The Opera Browser for Macintosh now comes in two flavors: Beta 5 for systems 7.5.3–9.2, and Beta 3 for OS X. Opera Mac beta supports CSS1, HTML, XHTML, and much of ECMAScript 1.1 (the web–standard version of JavaScript).
Fast and light
Beta 5 is incredibly fast at rendering web pages. They seem to spring onto your screen in the blink...

The focus for Movable Type 3.16 is on code quality and cleaning up little issues and bugs that have crept into the code base, either in the past year or, in some cases, since Movable Type was first released.
To get started, you can get Movable Type now, or log in to your account to upgrade. Or, read on to find out more details.

2.5 (2002.10.08)
• Localization: the MT interface can be available in multiple languages, on a per-author setting. • Integrated Jay Allen's mt-search (Thanks, Jay!). We've made the following changes from version 1.31b: • Rewrote ``new comments search'' to make it more scalable (using recently_commented_on functionality) • Added a search log through the Activity Log. • Added search request throttling, to help against denial of service attacks. • Merged mt-search.cfg directives into mt.cfg....

3.2 (2005.08.25)
Major Features
• New dead-simple AJAX-powered installation/upgrade process (see screencast demo) which replaces mt-load.cgi and all mt-upgrade* scripts. Also eliminated the upgrade distribution since only the config file would be different. • Combined mt.cfg and mt-db-pass.cgi into mt-config.cgi. Shipping as mt-config.cgi-original so as to prevent overwriting when upgrading. • Introduced the new System Overview section which allows administrators to configure and manage aspects of the system across all weblogs • Introduced a plugin-based feedback rating framework which scores comments and TrackBacks upon submission on a scale from -10 (least desirable) to 10 (most desirable)...

• Lots of changes to the UI: leftnav, topnav, edit-entry screen, new-entry screen, etc. • Blog Editing Menu has now changed greatly to provide space for a welcome message (editable in blog config), blog stats, and links to 5 most recent posts and comments. • Added the ability to do NFS-safe database locking using .lock files and link(). This is not something most people should worry about; if it affects you, it's likely that you will know it. :) Thanks to Kelsey Cummings for ideas and code. • Hold and Release are now Draft and Publish...

MT 2.0
Development on MT version 2.0 is going smoothly and we're looking at a early March release. Can you believe it's almost February?

As the campaign has been successfully completed, here's MT Blogroll 2.0. Thanks to all those that donated to the campaign, the donors will get priority if bugs or problems are faced. If you feel like donating, the campaign is now over, but feel free to use the donate button on the sidebar.
There are some new features including the ability to quickly add a blogroll entry by just entering the URI and having MT-Blogroll gather all the other information. I've also added the ability to define the the names of the author's of the blogs and the target of the blog.
I think all the bugs from the previous version should've been fixed, if you experience a bug, drop me a note.
If you are already using MT...

Many users are experiencing intermittent 500 errors when using Movable Type, apparently as a result of certain Perl modules being upgraded by CPanel. (CPanel is an application which automates the management of shared hosting accounts.)
The modules are currently identified as DBI and DBD::mysql. Preliminary reports suggest that reverting these two modules to versions 1.47 and 2.9006 respectively will eliminate the 500 errors.
Some limited testing in a non-CPanel environment with the latest versions of these modules (1.48 and 3.0000 respectively) has not produced any similar performance issues to date; thus, it is not yet clear whether the newer modules alone are responsible for these...

UPDATE: If you have any feature request I'm all ears. Gearing up for the release I want to see if there are any feature requests I can implement, I think I've fixed all the bugs that were reported so expect a release in the next few weeks.
I had released this to ProNet a few days ago but have not gotten much feedback. That can be either that people are waiting for the point release and don't want to install a beta or that there aren't many bugs in this beta. Either way I want to open up testing for MT Blogroll 2.0 (I'm still thinking about that version number). I'm going to copy my post to ProNet here to save me some time.
I've re-written Blogroll to use its own tables in the DB so...

Updated 09/05 - Search Throttle
The search form that comes with default MT templates is very limited in what it lets you do - basically it only lets you search the current blog and allows you to not specify any oother options. Here are some things you can do with searches. The code listed here can go into any template but the code must be placed within the search form ie <form>....</form>. Also each block of code is independent. You don't need to use previous code for it to work - as long as it is placed within the search form it will work no matter what other code you have or have not implemented !
Search Where ?
Replace the search form code you have with something like...

I'm releasing an updated version of MT-Notifier today. This adds a couple of changes: 2.4.4 - Added MTNotifierCatID template tag to display ID of context category.
This change allows you to use the MTNotifierCatID tag inside of a context category - useful for pulling out the category ID when you are in a category archive, for instance, and allowing you to dynamically create subscriptions for categories. 2.4.5 - Added ability to specify parameter "url" on subscription form.
If you create your own subscription form, add the parameter "url" to the form. You can make this hidden, and I would probably suggest doing so, but you could also allow it to be a drop-down list or something....

We have just released Movable Type v3.14 which fixes the issue of extreme loads witnessed on servers under the strain of a massive spam attack. Because these attacks are increasing in both frequency and severity, we strongly recommend that all Movable Type users install this update. This is particularly important for any installation that is visible to the public on the web.
This release is a free update for Movable Type v3.x users and has been thoroughly tested both in-house, by our ProNet members and also by many of the web hosting companies initially affected by the problem. If you already purchased Movable Type or downloaded the free version, youââ¬â¢ll be able to download...

(Adriaan Tijsseling) • Fixed Javascript error with MT It! caused by Windows security update. Who can use your website? People with limited mobility may have a hard time controlling a mouse to click on links, and tabbing through menus can be slow going. The W3C introduced the accesskey attribute to enable users to select the appropriate key on their keyboards and navigate to a particular link.
Accesskeys can also be useful to people who have no trouble controlling the mouse and clicking on links. Experienced users of desktop applications learn to use keyboard short-cuts to save files, open new windows, or copy and paste text. Assigning accesskeys to menu items adds "Hot-Key" functions to a...
