If the result list is too large, please consider these hints
- Reduce the number of websites.
- Add more keywords.
- Use quotes for building terms from keywords. For example, the phrase banner image searches for all articles containing both words. However, "banner image" searches for the exact two-word phrase.

Movable Type 3.0 Beta Testing
We'll be starting the Movable Type 3.0 public beta test next week, the week of April 19. It's taken longer to get to this public beta because we made the decision to extend the alpha process to catch as many bugs as possible before introducing MT3b to the general public.
The alpha testing started about one month ago on March 17, 2004. As anticipated, the alpha uncovered a number of issues that are now fixed, and we thank our alpha...

Earlier today, I discovered a workaround of sorts for one of the main functions of Workflow: the publish permissions. Basically, an author could set an entry to Publish through Movable Type's power-editing mode and the AppPostEntrySave callback would not be called, therefore the entry status would not be changed back to Draft.
The new release of Workflow fixes that problem. If you do not currently have the AltTemplatePath configration option set, the fix will be transparent to you. If you do have it set however, you will need to include the list_entry.tmpl template that can be found in plugins/Workflow/alt-tmpl/list_entry.tmpl. All the fix does is remove the option to change...

MainMenuRecent is a plugin that modifies the interface of Movable Type. When the plugin is installed, MT's Main Menu will display the three most recent entries for each weblog.
Requirements
MainMenuRecent requires the BigPAPI plugin, which is included with the MainMenuRecent distribution.
MainMenuRecent is compatible with MT 3.16 and higher. However, the Settings are only available under MT 3.2.
Installation
To install the MainMenuRecent plugin, upload the file MainMenuRecent.pl to the plugins directory within your Movable Type directory. If BigPAPI.pl is not already present in your plugins directory, upload that as well.
Terms of Use

Most people who've attempted to recreate a sophisticated design in HTML email have run into a wall when using CSS, either in the form of inexplicable mangling by email clients or a pronouncement by an email administrator stating that CSS is "against the rules." If you're not content to roll over and use font tags in your HTML emails, read on.
Despite prevailing wisdom to the contrary, you can safely deploy HTML emails styled with good old-fashioned CSS. Yes, I really just said that. Not all attributes will be invited to the party, but many of them work flawlessly with this method.
First comes love: unconditional acceptance

Happy New Year, everyone!
We're looking forward to an exciting year of big Movable Type developments. Thanks go out to all who have supported us with donations, support and just really great feedback.
We hope our plans for Movable Type in 2002 will be as exciting for our users as they are for us.
As many of you know, we're currently developing a version of MT with multiple category support. This version, formerly referred to as 1.4, will also consist of interface improvements (including new and improved, and more importantly, more intuitive icons).
Expect this release to merit a version 2.0 label.
In the meantime, we couldn't resist planning a mini-release -- with the...

What's New.
We plan to release version 2.01 of Movable Type in the next week or two weeks. This version is primarily a maintenance release, containing fixes for some small bugs and issues in version 2.0. In addition to a variety of bug fixes, version 2.01 features: • Partial implementation of the metaWeblog XML-RPC API: the newPost, editPost, and getPost methods • Hooks to automatically insert Google search results into your pages, for both search queries and...

What Zen was to the 70's (most famously with motorcycle maintenance), the Tao Te Ching was to the 90's. From Piglet and Pooh to Physics and back, many have sought sense in applying the Tao Te Ching to something (the Tao of Physics), or something to the Tao Te Ching (the Tao of Pooh). It can be a cheap trick, but lately it has struck me that there is more than a little to be understood about web design by looking through the prism of the Tao.
Daoism is a philosophy, like Buddhism, a way of living, of being in the world, which stems from a text of great antiquity, the Tao Te Ching, whose 81 "chapters" enigmatically sweep across human experience, but with a strong...

Movable Type 3.11 Released: Bugs fixed
We've just released Movable Type 3.11, an update to version 3.1 which corrects some problems that were preventing many users from upgrading their installations.
If you downloaded the general release of Movable Type 3.1 and had trouble using it straight off the bat, this update is for you. Some other bugs were corrected as well; here's a complete list of changes from version 3.1: • Corrected some problems with upgrades: from 3.0x to 3.1x with Berkeley DB, or from 2.6x to 3.0 with any database system. • Updates to templates were not reflected on dynamic pages after saving an entry; that's now fixed. • In some older versions of Perl, a syntax error blocked any use of the...

Update: There is a vulnerability in 2.6 and 2.61. See this post for more details. 2.62 is now the latest version of MT, with the fix for that vulnerability.
Version 2.61 of Movable Type is now released. This is a bug fix release, fixing various encoding, template, and other errors that were in 2.6. If you are using 2.6 and not having any problems, there is no urgent need to ugprade. If you are having problems with 2.6, the changelog lists the changes and fixes in 2.61.
If you hadn't yet upgraded to 2.6, see the Guide to Movable Type 2.6 for explanations of the above features, and for instructions on adding these features to your existing weblog if you are upgrading.
If you're upgrading from any...

A long overdue update to the InlineEditor plugin. For those that don't remember, this plugin allows you to edit entries and comments without leaving your weblog as illustrated by this animation. This plugin includes plenty of new features: • It is much simplier to enable Inline Editing on a blog now, simply click a link and the necessary files will be downloaded from movalog.com and installed • Implementation of Inline Editing both of comments and entries has become far easier. Simply make 3 changes to your templates! • Saving is done through Perl which means its far more secure and works far more efficiently than previous versions (thanks Brad!) • Inline comment editing now defaults...

Upgrading Movable Type
Problem
You want to upgrade the Movable Type software.
Solution
Upgrading follows nearly the same steps as installation except that you will want to perform a backup of your system before attempting the upgrade. If you are upgrading from Movable Type 3.1x or before, you will also want to migrate to the new configuration file: mt-config.cgi.
Discussion
If you're on any past version of Movable Type, version 3.2 offers a lot of features and improvements that will make managing your blogs easier. To take advantage of them, you'll need to install the latest...

Overall, Movable Type 3.2 makes all the common tasks we perform with Movable Type much more satisfying.
Between now and the time it is released, we will be covering "Our 32 Favorite features in Movable Type 3.2" on the Professional Network weblog. Though we'll only be covering highlights of the new version, this release features over 100 new features and improvements. We're sure all users will find this to...
