Results
If the result list is too large, please consider these hints
- Reduce the number of websites.
- Add more keywords.
- Use quotes for building terms from keywords. For example, the phrase banner image searches for all articles containing both words. However, "banner image" searches for the exact two-word phrase.

Question
When I try to log into Your Account, I get an error message that says "Your User Record Could Not Be Found".
Answer
A Movable Type account will not exist for you until you download a 3.x license using your registered TypeKey name. You must first select a license from our Pricing page and then log in with the TypeKey username when prompted. Downloading the license is what creates the account in our system.

Movable Type 'nofollow' plugin
Today we are pleased to announce our full support for the rel="nofollow" attribute to hyperlinks introduced to address the main cause of weblog spam: the payoff of higher placement in search engine results.
This initiative, with announced support from Google, Yahoo, MSN (and surely more to come), will direct search engines to ignore links with this attribute set for the purposes of spidering or increasing search engine relevance or ranking.
For current users of Movable Type (note: this plugin is included by default starting with version 3.16), this support is implemented as a simple plugin ( zip [4K], tar/gzip [3K]-- tested on MT 3.x and MT 2.661). For most users enabling "nofollow" support involves placing a single file in your plugins directory. All links submitted by external users in comments and TrackBacks will then be modifed to add the...

Update April 9, 2005: Brad Choate has released a new anti-spam plugin called SpamLookup. Jay Allen, the creator of MT-Blacklist recommends SpamLookup over MT-Blacklist.
Spammers have discovered Trackback and have recently been leaving their trail of unwelcome links all over the blogosphere. To get a sense of what we are up against, read The Register's interview with a link spammer. Listed here are some defensive measures you can take.
MT-Blacklist
As with comment spam, your first recourse is Jay Allen's MT-Blacklist. The blacklist will help you delete the trackbacks and ban the URLs the spammers leave. Note that if you are using MT2.661 and MT-Blacklist 1.65, Jay has special instructions for deleting trackback spam pings....

We'll be starting the Movable Type 3.0 public beta test next week, the week of April 19. It's taken longer to get to this public beta because we made the decision to extend the alpha process to catch as many bugs as possible before introducing MT3b to the general public.
The alpha testing started about one month ago on March 17, 2004. As anticipated, the alpha uncovered a number of issues that are now fixed, and we thank our alpha testers for their hard work in testing out the software.
If you had applied to be part of the alpha and we missed you, we apologize. As a result of the kinks we encountered during the alpha tester selection process, we've made improvements to the...

PingInterface
By default, outgoing Trackback and update pings are sent to the internet using the default network interface card (NIC) on the server running Movable Type. In some rare cases, it may be necessary or desirable to have the outbound ping traffic sent over a different network interface card or network connection. In these situations, enter the IP address of the network interface card that should be used to send the outgoing ping notifications.
You may specify only the IP address (xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx) or an IP address and port number (xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:#). If no port number is...

Workflow for Movable Type released
Workflow, a new plugin for Movable Type 3.1x, has just been released by David Raynes. While we don't usually feature new plugins as part of our news about the Movable Type platform, we thought it was worth pointing out because Workflow adds a powerful new area of functionality, and also marks a milestone for the growth of our plugin community.
First, the features: Workflow lets you limit control of publshing rights to certain authors in your Movable Type installation, allowing other people on the system to act as editors and review entries before they're published. Administrators can control who has rights to...

Introduction
We should probably included a full explanation of TrackBack and how it works, but there isn't enough time to do it justice.
Needs refinement. This comes in out of nowhere. better define "resource" and "communication."
Weblog comments still require the use of that particular site's interface and the content is limited to that one weblog unless it is cut, pasted, and posted elsewhere.
Released in August 2002 as both an open protocol and new functionality in MT version 2.2, TrackBack was designed to provide a means of notification through a small message called a...

Dynamic Publishing support for PostgreSQL and SQLite
It's a common refrain for us to talk about Movable Type's wide platform support, but we really are committed to making sure Movable Type's full power is available on the widest variety of platforms. It's an investment that takes a lot of care and attention, but we think it's well worth the effort.
For example, take databases. Movable Type has long supported multiple databases, with MySQL and Berkeley DB being among the most popular. But two mature, popular open-source database technologies that a lot of our users have requested have also part of our platform support for over two years: PostgreSQL and...

This wasn't nearly as hard as it looks. I'm reprinting it here (adjusted for what I said) because things on the net tend to disappear when you aren't looking.
Here's the two functions you need. Put these at the top of your page (**needed on EVERY page you want to do this collapse/expand thingy**)
<script language="javascript"> function showMore(varA1, varB1){ var123 = ('varXYZ' + (varA1)); varABC = ('varP' + (varA1)); if( document.getElementById ) { if( document.getElementById(var123).style.display ) { if( varB1 != 0 ) { document.getElementById(var123).style.display = "block"; document.getElementById(varABC).style.display = "none"; } else {...

Question
I don't like the default filenames Movable Type assigns to my files. Can these be changed?
Answer
Yes, you can control these filenames.
Index Templates
For Index Templates, you can change the Output File name on the Edit Template screen.
Archive Templates

Question
I'm having trouble getting a full export of my entries using the default export function. Are there other ways I can perform an export?
Answer
Movable Type contains a function to export all of the entries in your blog, but that doesn't mean your options stop there. You can easily export a single entry, all entries from one or more categories, or break your exports down by month (helpful for those with large blogs whose server times out on the export).
The secret is in this export format file. By downloading this file and pasting it into...
