3.2 (2005.08.25)
• The auto-expiration of Junk feedback items only occurs when a user visits the main menu for that weblog. In future versions, auto-expiration of junk items will be triggered system-wide when a new junk feedback item is received. • When an entry is saved from the Preview screen, duplicate TrackBack pings may be sent out • When an entry is saved from the Preview screen, the entry basename may be incremented or, if the title was changed, altered to fit the new title. • Subcategories are not alphabetically sorted in the category assignment listings on the entry editing...

3.17 (2005.06.02)
• Once an entry or category has been set to receive TrackBack pings, disabling pings for it through the UI will not actually refuse pings to that item but will suppress display of those pings. • Rebuilds will fail silently after saving an entry if a problem exists in your templates (for example, mismatched tags or a missing include module). An error will be shown, however, upon manual rebuild using the "Rebuild Site" functionality. • The nofollow plugin will cause a spurious warning for users with older versions of Perl upon running...

2.0b2 (2002.02.20)
• Sort categories and authors in power-edit screen. • Changed input box styles back to 20px so that they are not too small in Windows. • Added caching of templates when rebuilding archives; this means that for each archive type, each archive template need only be loaded once. Hopefully this will improve performance. • Fixed bug where Convert Line Breaks setting was not applied to preview page. • Shortened manual split page names so that they don't get truncated. • Export now exports in ascending chronological order....

If you want to upgrade to MT 2.661 but aren't sure you want to use the redirect feature new with that version, you now have an option: Optional Redirect Plugin. I just installed it. What you need to do is:
1. Download and unzip the plugin. 2. Upload the pl file to your plugin directory. (If you don't have one, see here. 3. The tag <$MTCommentAuthorLink$> now has the added option of redirect="0" or redirect="1". For redirects, 0=off and 1=on. So by using this attribute you can turn the redirect feature off and on.
Nice one!

Version 2.0 of Movable Type is now released. This version of Movable Type is still free for personal or non-profit use; note that version 2.0 is not free, however, for commercial or for-profit use. See the FAQ for more details. Existing users of versions 1.0-1.4 should use the upgrade distribution to update their MT installation, and should follow the upgrade instructions. Before upgrading, you will need to back up your MT databases and export your entries and comments, as a precaution.
In addition to bug fixes and improvements to general system stability, this release adds the following features: • Multiple category support: the ability to assign multiple categories per...

2.0 Release Dates
The release of version 2.0 of Movable Type is around the corner. Progress has been slowed down as of late, because we moved, and we are now in Austin, TX for SXSW. But on our return--or shortly thereafter--we plan to launch version 2.0. Specifically, the release will be sometime between March 15 and March 20.
If you have a question to us pending at the moment, please bear with us, as we don't have a lot of time to check email.

It's Movable Type Fun Day!
First start with Paul's account of switching from .html file extensions to .php, and how gracefully MT handled the transition. Even existing off-site bookmarks don't break!
Then head over to Scott's place to read up on how he managed to wrangle Movable Type into producing human-friendly, meaningful URLs instead of the arbitrary sequential URLs that MT ships with. Fun!
Then take a look at the URL attached to this post (click the title), and rejoice for I too have switched to more meaningful URLs. Except… oh wait. Look at that. No I haven't.
The intent is there, but instead of something nice and tidy like...
