I'm sitting in Spam Free Bliss at the moment. I had the weird experience of waking up to not one spam.
McAfee Spamkiller intercepted most of them, with Thunderbird catching the rest (which I duly scolded the McAfee filter for).
On the website, there was a flurry of spammy comments and trackbacks last night, but the new SpamLookup filter built into MT3.2 just swept them all into the 'Junk' folder, in case of false positives. Not one made it to the site, no cleanup to do, as has been the case.
Sheer bliss.
(Some sites point out that MT doesn't come with new templates. This is true for upgrades as you wouldn't want it to go over modified templates. You can...

Chris Vannoy has posted some simple Movable Type templates based on the new default templates in Movable Type, but with much of the XHTML structure stripped out so they're easier to read. As Chris explains in his following post, they're not designed to be used on an actual site, since the styling would be pretty ugly by default, but they're a useful basis for creating your own completely custom design if you just need a place to get started.
We'll be producing additional documentation about all the new abilities that templates and styles have in Movable Type 3.2, but this is a great place to start if you just want to see the basics of what a template can do.

There are gobs of plugins available for Movable Type. I'd bet that most people who use version 3.2 are using the SpamLookup and Nofollow plugins, and many of you probably have at least a few others installed.
Of all the plugins you use, what are the three most essential? (Yes, you have to narrow it down to three!) Which ones make your site run the way it does, provide you the options you want, or otherwise improve your Movable Type installation?
My favorite three? • SpamLookup is essential for keeping a site spam-free. It does a great job, but you probably already knew that. • SmartyPants provides typographically-correct punctuation: curly quotes, ellipsis, and em-dashes...

Current version: 1.01 (updated 2005/09/24).
The Better Entry Preview plugin's purpose is to make the entry preview screen more useful. The included styles give the entry preview environment a feel that a traditional editor might like by using larger type, more line spacing, and a serif font. Tapping the beginning of what is possible, floated elements will now float around text, rather than falling above or below text. With customizable styles, the entry preview window can be made to mimic your web site's look quite easily.
Better Entry Preview is the evolutionary step of the preview_entry.tmpl alternate template, and is a plugin based on BigPAPI.
Download Better Entry Preview and BigPAPI as a .zip file. Extract, and upload to your...
