The past few days, I've been working hard on a new version of MT Blogroll that will be feature packed. Some of the features I have either written or plan to write include: • Integration with del.icio.us - MT Blogroll is now capable of completely synching with del.icio.us. This means that links you add to MT Blogroll will get added to del.icio.us and vice-versa. • Tagging - to complement the above, I've implemented the ability to tag links just like del.icio.us. The template tags are also powerful enough for you to generate your own tag cloud. • Export to OPML - one of the biggest feature requests I've received was to have an export mechanism and I've finally gotten around to implementing that. • Direct import from Bloglines - Simply enter your Bloglines username and your folders and links are imported. I'm investigating similar integration with Blogrolling and Newsgator....

Update April 9, 2005: Brad Choate has released a new anti-spam plugin called SpamLookup. Jay Allen, the creator of MT-Blacklist recommends SpamLookup over MT-Blacklist.

Spammers have discovered Trackback and have recently been leaving their trail of unwelcome links all over the blogosphere. To get a sense of what we are up against, read The Register's interview with a link spammer. Listed here are some defensive measures you can take.

MT-Blacklist

As with comment spam, your first recourse is Jay Allen's MT-Blacklist. The blacklist will help you delete the trackbacks and ban the URLs the spammers leave. Note that if you are using MT2.661 and MT-Blacklist 1.65, Jay has special instructions for deleting trackback spam pings....

Firefox on the March

Red Herring's got an interview with Rob Davis, the man behind the campaign to advertise Firefox in the New York Times. It's especially good timing for promoting every geek's favorite browser, since the updated roadmap shows the browser scheduled for release on November 9th.

This section of the appendix details all configuration directives that can be defined in mt-config.cgi. Through use of these directives, you can control numerous aspects of the system.

Except for those which define things specific to your system (e.g. CGIPath and your database settings), all of them have defaults set by Movable Type. This means that not every directive will appear in mt-config.cgi. If you wish to override the default for a setting which does not appear in the file, simply add it and the desired value to your mt-config.cgi.
